 ETHICAL GLOBALIZATION

this web page is no longer maintained click here for newer version 4.0

As interaction and integration among the people, businesses and governments of nations accelerates, I think we need authority that transcends nations. This authority could be provided by strengthening / democratizing existing institutions (UN, WTO, etc) and creating new ones. It would mediate disputes, do peacekeeping, and regulate international trade -- intervening when worker exploitation, environmental degradation or economic upheaval warranted. It would regulate capital flow, bust monopolies, and promote wealth / technology transfer aiding the poor -- giving all at least a minimum living standard and a voice in the decision-making affecting them. (Note: Many don’t like the ‘ethical’ qualifier. They see ‘globalization’ as extending ‘benefits’ of free market capitalism to the whole world.)
