SANCTITY & DIGNITY OF LIFE / ANIMAL RIGHTS

I believe that life is a sacred, mysterious gift. I stand in awe of the conscious, feeling, vibrant expression of life. Accordingly, I will not engage in any behavior, nor sanction any acts that terminate such life, or needlessly inflict pain on such living things. My respect for the sanctity, integrity, and dignity of life is such that I will oppose certain medical, biotechnological, or agribusiness practices that I see as tampering with it or degrading it.   (Note: While anti-abortion activists, those battling euthanasia, opponents of capital punishment, vegetarians, animal rights activists, etc, typically share respect for human life in some way, those in the latter two groups extend their respect to animals, and accordingly extend certain rights to animals.)
