  RELIGIOUS FUNDAMENTALISM / APOCALYPTICISM

As an orthodox follower of the ___________ (insert name of religion) religion, I believe that human behavior should not deviate from that called for in my religion’s sacred text. This I see as the unerring word of God. I hold it to be literally true, and believe that it provides an absolute basis for morality. I believe that God can and has personally intervened in the lives of people in ways consistent with stories in this sacred text. (Note: Some of these stories involve the return of a beloved religious leader / prophet being accompanied by a final battle between good and evil. This promotes belief in apocalypticism: that the end of the world, or some catastrophic event after which life won’t be the same, is near.)
